Blog Topic #3:

RSS stands for Rich Site Summary or Really Simple Syndication. With RSS you the reader is able to subscribe to a blog post and receive notice when the site is updated. Most sites will have a RSS button which the user would click to subscribe to a constantly updating post.

One of the main benefits of using an RSS feed is that the reader can subscribe to many posts on different sites and not have to visit each site individually to get updated on the latest news. This is acheived by running an aggregator (or feed reader) program that receives the information from the various sites and displays it for the reader. These progams can be web-based or installed on your desktop computer.

The RSS feed would allow each student to be informed everytime a fellow student has updated their post.

Blog Topic #2: Web Design Resources

I realize this post and all following posts are incredibly late, but better late than never.

designwok.com

I came across this site when searching for web design resource sites. The name is Design Wok and it is a list of links to everything related to web design. Something I found pretty interesting was a link to an article regarding using Lorem Ipsum for dummy text when designing your site. The article poses the opinion that Lorem Ipsum does not really give you an accurate preview of how the site will look with text, especially if you will be relying on lots of styling techniques for the text.

Another article lists great ideas for keeping your text concise and organized since most viewers are scanning the content for relevant information. It suggests using sub headings to help direct the viewers eye.

Deign Wok itself isn't filled with tons of content. It appears to be relatively new and the most recent post is from March. The content that is there I have found to be great advice that I plan to implement into my web designing. You might find something useful too.
